On 1st March 2017, Secretary General of TSJS, Prof. Kuo, Yujen was invited by the Naval METOC Office R.O.C. as a Keynote Speaker, his title is " US-Japan Alliance on Asia Pacific Strategy".  Japan, located in East Asia is as a crucial partner for US, therfore, US-Japan's alliance is not only a platform but also mechanism for US extending its political, economic and military influences.

Issues discussed in the meeting included Yu Teng-Fa (余登發) Japan Study Scholarship, TSJS visit to Japan, call for paper for TSJS Newsletter and the Japan and Asia-Pacific Studies Quarterly (JaQ), etc.
TSJS Chairperson Dr. Wen-Cheng Lin and TSJS Board visited Japan (Jan. 16-19, 2017) and exchanged ideas with variety of fields and levels, in order to promote Taiwan-Japan relationship and Taiwan's Japan study.
Prof. Yoshimaru Katsuya from Mie University visited National Sun Yat-sen University and Kaohsiung City. Prof. Yoshimaru shared his insights with Prof. Kuo Yujen and CJS Research Fellow Dr. Hsu Jia-hao about Taiwan history in early 20th century.
Prof. Yang Yi-Bin from Ching Kuo Institute of Management and Health lectured on Postwar South Korea Political Development.
