20140923 Dr. Suehiro Akira, Professor of School of Social Science, University of Tokyo shared his perspectives in his lecture "Emerging Asian Economies: Beyond Catch-up Industrialization"
Dr. Suehiro Akira, Professor of School of Social Science, University of Tokyo was invited by CJS to share his perspectives in his lecture "Emerging Asian Economies: Beyond Catch-up Industrialization" on Sep. 23, 2014. Dr. Suehiro is a well-known and influential economist giving his focus on Asian economies. In his lecture in NSYSU, he elaborated the different developmental strategies among the emerging economies in Asia, and giving his warning about the necessity for Japan to tackle with the developmental dilemma it encounters.
After Dr. Suehiro's lecture, the President of NSYSU, Dr. Hung-Duen Yang, invited Dr. Suehiro for luncheon with Dr. Lin Wen-Cheng, the Dean of College of Social Sciences, Dr. C.Y. Ku, the Director of China and Asia-Pacific Studies, and Dr. Yujen Kuo, the Chief Executor of CJS. In the discussion during the luncheon, the professors shared with each other ideas to expand and deepen the academic network building among them and beyond, expecting the mutual cooperation in research in the near future.
