2012「Japan Research Scholarship」

1. Purpose:
The National Sun Yat-sen University Center for Japanese Studies and the Interchange Association, Japan (IAJ), in order to promote Japan-related studies and researches in Taiwan, together established this scholarship. It aims to support graduate students who are interested in conducting Japan-related researches and studies for their theses with financial assistance during their studies.
2. Award:
The Center for Japanese Studies will select two qualified applicants every year; the scholarship will cover the selected applicants’ full tuition fees for one year. (The financial needs of the applicants as well as the quality of the applicants’ works will be taken into consideration in the selection process.)
3. Expectations and Obligations:
In order to be qualified for the scholarship, applicants’ research topics must be in social sciences and Japan-related; possible research fields include studies in Japanese politics, economy, society, etc.
4. Qualifying Applicants:
Qualifying applicants include all graduate students, Master’s or Doctoral, currently enrolled in the College of Social Science, National Sun Yat-sen University; applicants must engage in Japan-related research works, and their Master’s theses or Doctoral dissertations must be related to Japan studies in the fields of social sciences.
5. Application Documents (Required):
1. Application form.
2. Transcripts in all graduate studies
3. Research proposal (within ten pages)
4. Previous awards, accolades, or other supporting documents
6. Application Deadline:
The 15th of September of every year; application materials must be submitted directly to the Center for Japanese Studies.
7. Evaluation Process:
1.The evaluation committee of the Center for Japanese Studies will carefully evaluate all applications and will announce the final decision within one month.
2. Results will be posted on the websites of the Center for Japanese Studies on 1st October.
