The National Sun Yat-sen University’s Center for Japanese Studies was honored to welcome Utsonomiya University’s International Culture Studies Department’s Professor 松金公正(Matsukane Kimimasa) on March 20, 2013.

Besides holding conferences with the Dean of the National Sun Yat-sen’s College of Social Sciences and the Center for Japanese Studies’ Director, Dr. Lin Wen-cheng, and Research Fellow, Dr. Kuo Yujen, Dr. Matsukane Kimimasa also met with current Japanese visiting professor, Dr. Maeda Hiroko, as well as Japanese exchange students and local students.

Dr. Matsukane’s research specialties include Taiwan’s history and East Asian culture; he also possesses working proficiency in Mandarin Chinese.

Thus, Dr. Matsukane was able to discuss with the Center for Japanese Studies’ Master’s students their prospective theses and the direction of their research.

The experience enhanced students’ understanding of different research areas and helped them to develop future research topics.
