On March 26, 2013, the Center for Japanese Studies welcomed Japan Chuo University’s Economics Department Professor Dr. Taniguchi Youji to the National Sun Yat-sen University’s College of Social Sciences to give a lecture on Japan’s economic strategy; Dr. Taniguchi also met with local students. Foreign students also participated in the event. During the presentation, Dr. Taniguchi offered humorous and witty remarks that helped students to understand and appreciate the many aspects of Japanese politics, government, and economic strategy, particularly with regard to industrial policies and their backgrounds. It was a very welcomed and rare opportunity that was appreciated by all who attended.
