CJS Director Dr. Yujen Kuo moderated the symposium The Impact of Abe's Resignation on Japan's Domestic and International Dynamics, Sep. 1 , 2020, Taipei.
Director Kuo pointed out that during Abe Administration the Japanese bureaucracies generally decided institutional development and personnel appointments, by which Abe maintained better relationship with the bureaucracies than his predecessors did. Abe also demonstrated to his LDP colleagues the power of teamwork unity. In foreign relations, during Abe's terms the US-Japan alliance has turned toward pragmatic division of labor, and Japan has swiftly dealt with the EPA with EU. Abe's resignation would redefine Japan-China relations, potentially toward negative development.
